Between wall demolishing and family moments at home (That you may have seen in my Instagram stories), I figured that a little come back on the blog would not be a bad idea. Especially because I really wanted to talk about TV shows!
I don’t talk much about TV shows here, but I love that! This love story started very young, around the age of 10; with the famous TV shows: ER, Lois and Clark, Beverly Hills 90210, Dawson’s Creek and co. There are even two actors which I continue to follow the career on television. Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek) and Noah While (ER). Mhhh first loves are forever ^^
Anyway ! Today I suggest a listing: First, the TV shows I’m currently watching and then, all - and I mean ALL - the TV shows I’m expecting next season :-)
Let's go ! :D
TV SHOWS I'M WATCHING
The Handmaid’s Tale, season 1 [Preliminary rating : 7/10]
This is my last good discovery after Mr. Robot in 2015. However, my rating is provisional because at present I miss 3 episodes to finish the season ;P
This TV show is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel “The Handmaid’s Tale”.
Plot : “In the near future, fertility rates collapse as a result of sexually transmitted diseases and environmental pollution.[1] With this chaos in place, the totalitarian, Christian theonomic government of "Gilead" establishes rule in the former United States in the aftermath of a civil war.[2][3][4] Society is organized by power-hungry leaders along a new, militarized, hierarchical regime of fanaticism and newly-created social classes, in which women are brutally subjugated, and by law are not allowed to work, own property, control money, or read.[4]Worldwide infertility has resulted in the conscription of the few remaining fertile women in Gilead, called handmaids, according to an "extremist interpretation" of a Biblical account.[4] They are assigned to the homes of the ruling elite, where they must submit to ritualized rape with their male masters in order to become pregnant and bear children for those men and their wives"
There is everything to learn and discover when you start season 1. What happened ? What is this new society with crazy laws? The spectator discovers through the main character what led to this frightening future and how its different protagonists live it or survive to it.
I am really excited about this TV show, it is my favorite of the year! So I really advise you to take a look at it :-)
Twin Peaks, season 3 [Preliminary rating : 3/10]
Needless I gess, to introduce you Twin Peaks by David Lynch. Having seen it a long time ago the first two seasons of 1991, I was almost forced to look at what would happen to the characters 25 years later. My rating is again temporary because the series is being broadcast. (5 episodes left)
But as you see, I'm not generous. Twin Peaks has always been a strange TV show, meaning, really crazy. You hate it or you like it. Personally I’ve liked the first two seasons. It wasn’t my favorite TV show but it was funny and atypical. There were some crazy ideas. But this third season ... I don’t like anything of it, or almost!
Of course others will find it fantastic so you will have to make your own opinion but for my part I really don’t see where Lynch is going with its stuff. Some episodes have disgusted me, others bored me. I love Kyle McLachlan but it's not enough to save the ship.
Rectify, season 1 [Rating : 4/10]
I’ve started to watch Rectify once it ended so if some of you have seen it all, don’t spoil me ^^’ Although actually I give a bad rating to this season 1, nothing says that I won’t like much better the following seasons.
The TV show tells the story of Daniel Holden, imprisoned at the age of 18 for the rape and murder of his girlfriend. He is released nineteen years later due to new DNA evidence.
This is where the show begins, at his release. So we don’t really know whether he is guilty or not, which I find really interesting.
However, the psychology of the characters (very central and important) do not please me. Some replicas of the main actor seem to fall from the cosmos to land in the soup and his interpretation of Daniel Holden does not convince me completely either. (Or the script doesn’t help)
So I didn’t enjoy this first season. 6 episodes is also too short. Let see what’s next, I don’t throw the Rectify in the trash.
Room 104, season 1 [Rating : ?]
I don’t want to rate this new creation of the Duplass brothers for the moment since I only saw 2 episodes out of 12.
I try this new TV show because the showrunners are the ones who created “Togetherness” which I loved so much for its originality and weir sense of humor. But when it comes to these brothers, we must expect ... everything.
The particularity of this new series (which began at the end of July 2017) is that each episode takes place in the same room: the famous room 104 of an ordinary motel. So to each episode his characters and his story of 24 / 29mn. It's fast, original and confusing!
The very first episode pleased me. Le second en revanche m’a laissé… perplexe. I didn’t understand it at all. (James Van Der Beek should not be cast! xD) I'm still waiting for the next episode with fear and enthusiasm lol.
PENDING TV SHOWS
And to close this article, here is the list of all the TV shows I'm watching and which I'm looking forward the next seasons, with more or less of impatient :D
And as I'm not sure I can do a ranking based on appreciation, it will be a list in alphabetical order. (But I can easily tell you that my favorite show is Mr. Robot !)
Chance
Doctor Who
Fargo
Homeland
How To Get Away With Murder
Humans
Mr. Robot
Outlander
The Affair
The Crown

And this cute one is Oscar, a poor little orange tabby cat with an injured cheek after a violent cat fight. (Probably) He surprises us in the middle of our garden during the photoshoot.
